Moving freight across Australia is hard. The distances are enormous, regional routes are thin, and loads range from a single pallet to a prime mover. Thousands of independent providers each run their own trucks on their own schedules. For decades the industry managed that complexity with phone calls, spreadsheets and brokers. It works, but it is slow and expensive, and it leaves trucks running empty on the way home.
Rob Russell and the Truckit leadership team made a clear call: put AI at the centre of how we do business. That meant rebuilding things that already worked and investing ahead of where the industry is today. Our tech team, led by Saurav Rawal and Andrew Erickson, turned that strategy into products customers and providers use every day.
Our instant pricing model learns from more than a decade of Australian freight data. A customer describes the job and gets a realistic price in seconds, instead of posting a listing and waiting days for quotes to come back.
We replaced rule-based matching with a machine learning model that ranks providers on location, job type, history and backload opportunity. The right truck sees the right job sooner, and providers fill return legs that would otherwise run empty.
Providers can find work by typing what they want in plain English, like "container jobs within 100km of Maryborough". The Recommended Jobs tab goes further, learning what each provider quotes on, searches for and wins, and putting those jobs first.
We are building AI that reads a provider's existing rate spreadsheet and turns it into a live rate card, with no reformatting. Every one of these tools makes the next one smarter, because every job booked on Truckit adds to the data the platform learns from.
Being named a finalist tells us the AI-first bet is paying off. It is a credit to Rob and the leadership team for setting the direction, and to Saurav, Andrew and the tech team who have put in the hours to make it real.
Congratulations to Locatrix on winning Gold for its emergency preparedness platform and workflow, to CDC Data Centres on taking Silver for its closed-loop liquid cooling system, and to InvestorKit on securing Bronze for EDGE, its evaluation, data, and growth engine.
